West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) is responsible for conducting the West Bengal Primary Teacher Eligibility Test (WBTET), 2017 for purposes of recruitment to teaching positions pertaining to classes I to V. Eligible candidates can apply online for the vacant positions.
The Primary TET examination of West Bengal shall be conducted as per NCTE guidelines mentioned diligently by the Department of School Education under the Government of West Bengal. The Teacher Eligibility Test of West Bengal shall be conducted throughout the length and breadth of the state on one single in different examination hall centers as prescribed by the board.
Unlike the CTET, the West Bengal TET is held on a state based level to determine recruitment of capable candidates as teaching faculty in the primary level of education. Candidates are requested to read the instructions carefully before proceeding to submit their applications online. Candidates who are eligible and have the academic and special qualifications as mentioned in NCTE guidelines are permitted to apply for the recruitment procedure.
- Candidates must have minimum 50 percent marks in secondary examinations besides a 2year diploma in elementary education. Candidates having a Bachelor in Elementary Education for 4 years are also eligible to apply.
- Or, candidates must have 50 percent minimum marks in secondary examination besides a diploma in Education/ Special Education are eligible to apply. The course in Education must be recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
A relaxation of marks only pertaining to be 5 percent shall be conducted for selected candidates – candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Ex-servicemen, Death in Harness (DH), PH and EC.
Interested candidates shall be required to choose a first language from the available choices of Bengali, Oriya, Telugu, Nepali, Hindi and Urdu. The choice must rely on the basis of the medium of instruction of their school candidate. The second language choice must be English for all candidates.
₹100/- for General (Unreserved) Category candidates and ₹25/- for SC, ST and PH category candidates.
A candidate is required to score more than 60 percent to qualify the TET paper. Candidates must keep in mind that education qualifications shall only be considered until 12.05.2017. Candidates who have appeared for final examination of Special Education Course Diploma or D.El.Ed course of NCTE this year are also eligible for application. Good luck.
