TNPSC Group 4 Exam Notification available for 5451 Posts

Finally, after a damn long waiting, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has finally presented the Group IV Exam 2016 Notification. The recruitment has 5451 various posts including Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno, Field Surveyor, Draftsman etc. The online application for TNPSC Group 4 Exam is available now and will be live till September 8, 2016. Almost 20% posts are reserved for the Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM).

The payment can be made up to 11th September 2016. As per the schedule included in this notice, TNPSC will conduct the Group IV Services Exam on November 6, 2016. The three hours exam will be held in straight the single shift from 10 A.M to 1:00 P.M.

What is the age limit for TNPSC Group 4 Posts?

The minimum age bar is 18 years for all of these vacancies included in Gr IV services. The upper age bar varies as per the candidate’s category as furnished below:

  • SC / SC (A), ST, and Destitute Widows of all castes: 35 Years.
  • MBC / Denotified Communities, BC, and BC (Muslims): 32 Years.
  • Others: 30 Years.

Is there any age relaxation for Group 4 Examination?

Yes, apart from the category wise age criteria mentioned above, the candidates belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes who have an educational qualification higher than General Educational Qualification (SSLC / 10th) can avail the reservation offer. There is no upper age limit for such applicants.

What is the required educational qualification for TNPSC Group IV Services?

The minimum educational eligibility to appear in this examination is SSLC/10th Class. The interested applicant must have completed his/her 10th class or SSLC before 9th August 2016. Candidates who are currently studying in 10th Class are not eligible for these posts.


SSLC Qualification is required for the following posts only:

  • Junior Assistant (Non-security & Security).
  • Bill Collector.
  • Field Surveyor (Preference will be in the favor of the candidates having ITI qualification in the survey).
  • Draftsman.

Required Technical Qualification (Typist and Steno Jobs): The candidates who want to get enrolled in Typist or Stenographer posts, must have the following technical qualifications:

For Typist: Must have cleared the Government Typing test in any one of the followings:

  • Senior / Higher Grade in Tamil and English.
  • Senior / Higher Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in the English language.
  • Senior / Higher Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in the Tamil language.

For Steno: Must have qualified the Government Technical test in both Typewriting and Shorthand by any one of the followings:

  • Senior / Higher Grade in Tamil and English.
  • Senior / Higher Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in the English language.
  • Senior / Higher Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in the Tamil language.

What are the documents required for Tamil Nadu Group 4 Exam Registration?

You must have the digitally scanned photograph of the candidate and his/her signature. The images of the signature and the candidate must be uploaded separately. What is examination fee for Group 4 Recruitment in Tamil Nadu?

The candidate who is interested in any of these jobs needs to Pay One Time Registration (OTR) Fee of ₹ 50 and ₹ 75 (Exam Fee) using the www.tnpscexams.net portal. The One Time Fee is required to be paid once in 5 years. So, if you’ve already applied for any TNPSC exam in past 2 years than you don’t need to pay ₹ 50 but paying the ₹ 75 (Exam Fee) is essential for all of the candidates.
