Telangana Police SI Exam Syllabus, Physical Test Details 2016

Recently the TS Police Recruitment Board has advertised the Sub-Inspector recruitment for 510 vacanices. Around 9058 posts for constables were notified before these ones. Selection procedure for Sub-Inspector in TS Police is also disclosed now. Preliminary Examination, PET, PST and Final Examination will be conducted to shortlist the candidates thorugh various stages.


Scheme of Selection:

1. Preliminary Written Examination: Prelim test of 3 hours duration will be conducted for all eligible applicants. This objective type test to have 200 questions for 200 marks i.e one mark for each question. Questions will be asked from Arithmetic, Test of Reasoning and Mental Ability (100 Marks) and General Studies (100 Marks).

Minimum cut-off marks for Preliminary written test are as per following:

  • Open Categories: 40%
  • B.C: 35%
  • SC/ST/E.S.M: 30%

Question paper for Telangana Police to be available in English, Telugu and Urdu languages. OMR sheets will be provided to the aspirants to mark their answers. Candidates are advised to use Blue or Black pen only.

2. Physical Measurements Test (PMT):

Candidates who clears the first stage test, will get intimation letters from the recruitment selection board. Dates of PMT, Venue, PET instructions should be mentioned on the letter. Aspirant must have following physical standards to be eligible for PET:

i) For the post code nos. 11 to 14 & 16 to 17 (Men) : Height must be at least 167.6 cms. Chest must measure the 86.3 cms with minimum expension of 5 c.m.s.

ii) For the post code no. 11 & 12 (Women) : Height must be minimum 152.5 cms.

iii) For the post code nos. 11 to 14 & 16 to 17 (Men) : Required height for candidates under these posts is 160 c.m.s while the required measure of the chest is 80 c.m.s.

iv) For the post code no. 11 & 12 (Women) : Height must not be less than 150 c.m.s.

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates clearing the PMT will undergo the PET on the same day. It includes various tasks to judge the physical fitness of the candidate. PET will be qualifying in nature, no marks to be considered for this while preparing the selection list.

For Post No. 11 (Women Canidates): Out of total three, candidate need to qualify at least 2 events (100 M.t.r race is the must).

For the Post code No. 12 to 14 & 16 (Men candidates):- Candidates who applied for these vacancies, must qualify in all five events whose total marks are 125. Each event carries maximum 25 marks.

4. Final Written Examination: Candidates who clears the PST, PET of Telangana Police SI Recruitment, will be called to make appearance in final written test. Pattern for this 3 Hours long exam will be as per following:

Category wise minimum cut off marks for final written exam are as shown below:

  • Open Categories: 40%

Paper I and Paper II will be objective type in the nature. Candidates need to submit their answers using OMR sheet.

Papers III and IV are qualifying in nature for the post numbers 12 to 14 & 16 only and the score taken in these papers i.e., III & IV will not be considered for final merit list. However candidates who fails in these papers, won’t be considered for final list irrespective of their performance in papers I & II.

Syllabus for Preliminary Written Test:-

A) Arithmetic & Test Of Reasoning / Mental Ability

Arithmetic: It will include questions on problems relating to number system, simple interest, compound interest, ratio & proportion, average, percentage, profit & loss, time & work, work & wages, time & distance, clocks & calendars, partnership, menstruation etc.

Test of Reasoning: It will include questions of both verbal & non-verbal type and include question on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory etc.

B) General Studies 

  1. General Science: contemporary developments in science and technology and their implications including matters of everyday observation and experience, contemporary issues relating to protection of environment as may be expected of a well educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
  2. Current events of national and international importance.
  3. History of India: emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic, cultural and political aspects. Indian National Movement.
  4. Geography of India.
  5. Indian Polity and Economy – including the Country’s political system, rural development, planning and economic reforms in India.
  6. Telangana Movement and State Formation – The idea of Telangana (1948-1970), Mobilization phase (1971-1990), towards formation of Telangana State (1991-2014).

TS Police SI Syllabus for Final Written Examination

  6. Personality test (the questions will be from Ethics, Sensitivity to Gender and weaker sections, social awareness, Emotional Intelligence).
  7. Telangana Movement and State Formation – The idea of Telangana (1948-1970), Mobilization phase (1971-1990), towards formation of Telangana State (1991-2014).

Paper III: English: The candidate’s understanding of the English language, its correct usage and their writing ability would be tested. Questions on short essay, comprehension, précis, letter writing, paragraph writing / report writing, translation from English to Telugu etc. would be included.

Paper IV (descriptive Type)

The candidates can choose to have one of the languages i.e., either Telugu or Urdu and should indicate their choice as and when asked for by the recruiting authority. Option once exercised will be final and a candidate will not be allowed to change it subsequently.

Telugu: The candidate’s understanding of the Telugu language, its correct usage and their writing ability would be tested. Questions on short essay, comprehension, précis, letter writing, paragraph writing / report writing, translation from Telugu to English etc. would be included.

Urdu: The candidate’s understanding of the Urdu language, its correct usage and their writing ability would be tested. Questions on short essay, comprehension, précis, letter writing, paragraph writing / report writing, translation from Urdu to English etc. would be included.
