The Third Round of baseline test in Maharashtra state schools was scheduled for 6th, 7th April 2017. But now the baseline test has been postponed because on 4th April 2017 the paper was found to be leaked.
New exam dates are 10th, 11th April 2017 for this year’s third round of baseline exam.
There were various students who were already having
Class VIII English and mathematics question papers before the exam date. The baseline test papers have been circulated through WhatsApp that came into media’s insights.
Recently, 6 HSC Exams papers were also leaked in Maharashtra state. SCERT told the parents not to loose their mind because of the question paper leaks.
The papers were designed to judge the knowledge of the kids. There is the need of learning the actual concept of these test. A kid can answer the questions only if he/she understands the concept.
The question paper of baseline exams was also leaked in October 2016 (2nd round). The leaked question papers were solved for ₹20-30 across the photo state shops across the state.
What’s Baseline Test?
Following the foreign module of the school education, the Pragat Shaikshanik (Progressive in Education) in Maharashtra has been conducted the baseline examination on school level.
The test is conducted thrice a year for Classes I to VIII in the first language and in math. The purpose of this test is to find out if the kid understood the concept of the subjects that he/she read in the whole year.
The score of the baseline test isn’t added to the final results of the student.
Maharashtra baseline exam is conducted before the new school admissions. However, it’s a non-detained test which states that the child won’t be failed or stopped from admission in new class even if he/she fails the baseline test.
What parents, teachers thinks about baseline test?
As per TOI, mostly teachers, school owners tend to be against this test. According to them, the motive of the test is good but the implementation isn’t working enough.
Many central boards, local schools don’t take the test seriously. It is seen many times that the papers were actually leaked by the schools and the malpractice was taken.
As per the comments published on the Times of India article, there is no point of conducting such tests. According to the parents, the baseline test is waste of the money, infrastructure of state govt.
What’s the purpose of conducting another test when students have already understood and learned the syllabus completely for their current academic year. About 7 crore Rupees are wasted on commencing these test ever year. Instead of the baseline test, the govt must offer any general knowledge or vocational course/test to serve the purpose.
Our education system was best among the world. Going through the history, one may easily find out that how British ruled us 200 years and the first thing they did was destroying our education system. Either the board should conduct
baseline test or the school test. Conducting two tests separately is nothing but a waste of time and efforts. The entire education system needs an overhaul. This pathetic education system need an immediate change if we really need to compete with the developed countries.
